e-Stewards® Standard

The e-Stewards® Standard for Responsible Recycling and Reuse of Electronic Equipment.

It outlines rigorous yet practical criteria for the environmentally sound and ethically responsible recycling and refurbishing of electronic equipment, ensuring accountability throughout the entire electronics recycling chain.

Despite the intense scrutiny of today’s environment, being competitive means never standing still.

QCI Global shows you the way forward so you can move forward confidently.

Be Environmentally Responsible

Operate with transparency and responsibility by reducing the illegal export of e-waste, protecting ecosystems, and minimizing the negative impact on developing countries.

Ensure Worker Safety

The standard provides comprehensive protections for workers, including baseline occupational safeguards, health monitoring, and full accountability for the handling of toxic e-waste materials.

Supply Chain Assurance

e-Stewards® certification enables organizations to demonstrate supply chain transparency, giving customers confidence that e-waste is managed safely and ethically.

Protect Data Security & Privacy

The certification ensures strict adherence to data destruction, privacy standards, and chain-of-custody controls.

What Is It?

Developed by the Basel Action Network (BAN) in collaboration with recycling industry leaders, the e-Stewards® Standard serves as a global benchmark for ethical and secure management of electronic waste.

It sets operationally realistic and verifiable standards for those engaged in recycling, refurbishing, and IT asset management, ensuring global best practices are followed.

All stored data from all devices must be destroyed.

Managing toxic e-waste must be done in accordance with best available practices to protect workers and the environment.

e-Stewards recyclers must track all toxic materials downstream of their facilities, account for them, and ensure proper management.

No child, coerced, or prison labour is permitted.

Exports of toxic e-waste to developing countries are not allowed in accordance with international law (Basel Convention).

e-Stewards requires that all of the facilities and operations in each country belonging to a company are covered under the certification.
